By the way, David Bowie is very disappointed in you.

I love awesome inspirational posters.
Another all-night paper-writing session successfully completed. I think I was inspired by the fact that I wrote almost the entire paper while wearing my bird hat. So, I wore it around campus today to celebrate.
I like me.

This is me, with my several personalities.
Which is me, the real me?"
Before I forget: line-dancing is one of the FUNNEST things I have done in my entire life. Seriously. You should go do it.

So, the His House costume party at the ____ church was fantastic. Among others, we had an awesome evil queen (my neighbor), an Eeyore and a Tigger, a set of twin boy and girl babies, The Hulk (with a suspiciously large chest), one of the BEST jedi I've ever seen (I got to play with the lightsaber!), a trio of pirates, a crazed/suicidal graduate student (she's really looking forward to graduate school), a Bond James Bond, one 70's/80's guy complete with a real afro, a giant present with the tag "To women, From God," a pinata who dropped candy when you hit her, a penguin, a cow, and the best Harry Potter EVER because he could speak with a British accent, play the piano, AND sing! (I was enthralled, and I'm not a huge Harry-lover.) What was my own costume, you ask? Well, let me tell you: I wore a baseball hat, and to the rim I attached a thread, and at the end of that thread was a leaf that dangled in front of my face. And then (profound moment of truth), I blew at it. Repeatedly. Now, you know what my delightfully charming get-up was, don't you? Of course you do. Everyone else does.
There was food (sugar!), drink (liquid sugar!), and merry-making (stealing other people's sugar!) for about an hour. Then began the scavenger hunt of wonderous places and things. I wish I could post a complete list of items, but I'll probably do that later when they get the pictures up (I demand a slideshow!). We hit the mall, the cemetery, and a retirement community. Needless to say, my team won. Stories of our brilliance to come at a later date.
When we congregated back at the church (and celebrated our victory), we played a game called Murder! (which is also called Mafia! or so I've been told), where everyone wanders around in the dark and the murderer strikes by tapping twice on the victim's shoulder. The victim then waits ten to fifteen seconds before "dying." The lights come on, the survivors congregate by the body, accuse two or three people, vote on the most likely, and try to demask the murderer. If the accused is innocent, the murderer has the chance to strike again (and, sadly, the innocent is eliminated from the game along with the dead). We used Old Maid cards. I was a sheep. I was also the fifth or sixth person killed, and everyone agreed that my shriek upon my murder was particularly superb. Someone even commented on the fact that I probably never have to fear rape since I could quite easily not only deafen my assailant but alert anyone in the general area that something is making a girl scream really, really loud. My friends, it seems I have an untapped talent. Though I've discovered it later in life, I will use it to the best of my ability in bringing sunshine and joy to people around the world.
Bless you and yours, and have a pleasant tomorrow.
[Edit: I forgot to mention the part where four girls were simultaneously braiding different parts of my hair. It was jolly good fun at the time, but now, at 4:15 AM, I find myself somehow less amused with all the teeny-tiny braids braided into braids braided into braids. As I sit here unraveling them, I actually consider the possibility of leaving them there, and never taking them out. I'm sure tomorrow it will be fun again.]

So, Grand Valley is hosting the Great Lakes History Conference this weekend. It's pretty awesome. Becky (history major, McNair Scholar, French-speaker, Haitian Revolution enthusiast) gave her paper on one of the panels. Well, it was a session with three GVSU students, but still, I was in awe. ^_^ Because she is awesome. Everyone was in suits and black pants except for the few of us students who wore jeans, and not even nice jeans. They were pretty ratty. And also t-shirts. From highschool pep band. *cough* I want to go back tomorrow, but I'm not sure that will work out. Especially since the one I would love to see is at 8:30 AM. Yikes.
That was the first time I rode the bus downtown, and it's not as scary as I thought. Sure, the prime bus stop is directly under a scary, scary bridge, but the people there look nice enough...
I studied for maybe two solid hours for my HST 206 (American History From 1877) midterm, and I'm pretty sure I did well. The little bit of studying I did was all for sections that were on the test. I get lucky everytime, I tell you. I think Professor Murphy feels like he is not a very good professor, but I like him. He gets the points across with a bit of humor. And before class everyday, he has people reveal any "happy thoughts," whichusually always turn into a play by play of any sports events that have occurred since the last class. Which is awesome. Cause then I can sound knowledgeable for the rest of the day.
Much cleaning was done today. The house is shiny like Ross's teeth when he left the whitener on for eight hours, like a fresh field of snow that blinds you when you're driving down the highway, like how the eyes of the British appeared to Colonel Prescott at Bunker Hill.
*cough*
History major. *points at self*

V For Vendetta is a GOOD movie. If I had to take a speech class again, I would definitely do V's self-introduction. My brother bought the book, so now I get to READ it as well. Ah, bliss, I have missed thee. If you want to buy it, you can buy it from amazon (brilliant!) together with Watchmen (brilliant!) for a lovely $27.18 (brilliant!).
